Riccardo Luppi International Improvisers Quartet. Riccardo Luppi’s Quartet brings together improvisers from various European countries that met in Belgium. Luppi is one of the most prestigious Italian saxophonist and flutist. With a post-bop style and a devotion for big band music, which resulted in the acclaimed “Homage to Duke Ellington” album, in this project he looks for a bigger freedom. He is joined by Lynn Cassiers, the Belgian singer and electronic manipulator know for her raw and striking jazz, the experient Sardinian bassist Manolo Cabras with his very personal aproach to his instrument and the drummer João Lobo, a Portuguese reference of the drums that has been heard alongside Enrico Rava aswell as in other more exploratory groups such as the unusual Tetterapadequ. The combination is explosive.
