RSSNicolas Pereda wint Courtisane filmprijs
De 11de editie van het Gentse Courtisane Festival voor film, video en mediakunst is op zondag 25 maart 2012 afgesloten met de feestelijke uitreiking van de filmprijzen en de vertoning van de winnende films in Sphinx Cinema.
De winnaar is filmmaker Nicolas Pereda met Entrevista con la Tierra (MEX, 2010), waar, in een schemerzone tussen fictie en realiteit, Pereda laat zien hoe de tienjarige Nico en Amelio het verlies van hun vriendje verwerken na een ongeval in de bergen.
De jury over Entrevista con la Tierra: We decided to choose this film for its proposal, which is prevalent in the entirety of the filmmakers work, which seeks to reinvigorate a social function in filmmaking, in art. It seeks to use fiction, documentary to build and support a small and geographically condensed group of people, exploring a mixture of their quotidian lives, their past myths and the fictions of their future, this is filmmaking that seeks out and manifests the need and actual use of culture, to link a group of people together in the pursuit of a future together.
De professionele jury –Gabriel Abrantes (PT/US, filmmaker en beeldend kunstenaar), Marina Gioti (GR, filmmaker en beeldend kunstenaar) en Jeremy Rigsby (CA, programmadirecteur Media City Film Festival – Canada)– beloonde ook nog twee films met een special mention: Agatha van Beatrice Gibson (UK, 2012) en I Will Forget This Day van Alina Rudnitskaya (RU, 2011)
Courtisane festival 2012 vond plaats van 21 tot 25 maart 2012 in Sphinx cinema, KASKcinema, Kunsttoren, Vooruit, Gent.
